Funds will be accounted for in a separate line in the Balance Sheet and Income and Expenditure Statement. Detailed information on receipts and expenditures will thus be accessible at any time. All funds will be used for Circle of Friends purposes – there will be no deductions for ARA expenses, admin, etc.

Disbursements will be made in consultation with nominated persons in each support group. Currently, there are two support groups, at DHS (Tricia Hart) and Payneham (David Winderlich) with another developing at UNISA (Tracey Bretag).

Donations can be made to Circle of Friends c/- ARA. (The ARA is required for banking and tax deductibility purposes).

A code number will be required on the transfer/deposit slip to identify the Circle that the donation supports.
DHS Circle 1
Payneham Circle 2
UniSA Circle 3

Direct Transfer and lodgements.
Payment to made to -
Account Name: Australian Refugee Association General Account
BSB: 105 116
Account Number:	4282 70440

Please label your transfer – "CF'CirclenumberYoursurnameInitials' " for identification and receipting purposes. Eg. If I was making a deposit for the DHS Circle, I would write "CF1ListonK"

Upfront cash requirements. This cash is for setting up (furnishing and putting food in) the house as well as giving the family some cash up front while we get the first weekly contributions in

Payments or Reimbursements. Paying first and then sending us the receipt for reimbursement from ARA would be the easiest way for ARA. ARA would reimburse immediately (within a week) so if the charge was on a credit card, you would have it before the payment was due.

Can I put cash into this account? Yes. I think you would have to go along to a bank to do it, though.

Purpose. To offer and provide an alternative to detention for asylum seeking families and individuals in Woomera, ie, an opportunity to live in the community with the support of a group of caring Australians. Detainees have to apply to the Dept of Immigration for a ‘Bridging Visa E’ which allows them to reside outside a Detention Centre. They would not be entitled to any DSS benefits.

Medicare status. Unclear (3/7/02)

Financial Requirements. Rent or free accommodation.
Utilities
Regular weekly support to cover food, clothing, travel, etc

Kevin Liston
Australian Refugee Association
304 Henley Beach Rd
UNDERDALE SA 5032
Tel:	(08) 8354 2951
Email:	kevin.liston@australianrefugee.org.au
1 July 2002
